Thank you for visiting and welcome to my website MaisyPlum Handmade Jewellery & Gifts.  Let me introduce myself! My name is Joanna Pearce and I create copper, enamel and silver jewellery and gifts.

My journey began about five years ago with a jewellery kit given to me by my daughter many years ago. That gift kickstarted a jewellery making hobby which quickly turned into an obsession and has now become a successful, fully fledged business.

It was when I discovered enamel, and all the possibilities of this ancient art, that things really took off creatively. Since then I haven’t looked back!

Tucked away in an East Sussex studio I have spent the last four years playing with and exploring the possibilities of this technique. Enamel dates all the way back to the 13th century BC and is made from finely ground glass which is melted onto metal using incredibly high temperatures. I use both a torch and a beaten up old kiln with many pieces being fired up to five or six times layering different enamels in between.

My unique working methods are reflected in the individual pieces I create - I love seeing each new piece emerge from the kiln, or watching the coloured powders change with the heat when torch firing. No two pieces are ever the same!

MaisyPlum jewellery is made using the very best jewellery components, often incorporating sterling silver and copper in the designs. I love to experiment with form as well as material and colour and I'm always thinking up new items to add to her range. As well as jewellery I makes key rings, tie pins, head pins and ring dishes.

My designs can be bought online from the website or Etsy shop and can be found at art and craft fairs throughout the year. There is also the opportunity to commission bespoke items.

When not cooking up colourful creations in my studio I like nothing more than walking my two lively dogs or running through the muddy Sussex countryside.
