I AM FEATURED!

So earlier in the year a delightful young lady, Sophie from www.pompomblossom.com found me on Etsy and discovered my ring dishes. There was one particular colour that I had made - Rose Quartz - a very pale pink enamel. Such a pretty colour and perfect for the colour palette for 2016 and certainly a great wedding gift idea. Following on from a photoshoot that Sophie had with Wedding Ideas Magazine http://www.weddingideasmag.com  , I am delighted to see that my ring dish has been included in their feature Boho Industrial! I am so chuffed that I am in print and I have to say the shoot looks amazing. New Products!

Hello Plummies!  I have been working on a selection of new bangles and thought I should let you know that they are being listed over the next few days!  I wanted to make the bracelets using unique charms - some of them are made in copper, some in sterling silver and then I enamel a few and team them with beads, tassels and colours. If you want personalised charms I can also do that to on request!  I hope you like them - they are slowly being added to my shop and also on my etsy store, so please check both as sometimes I list different colours!

Summer Update - MaisyPlum

Summer Update

Hi Plummies! It has been a while since I have blogged about anything as it is that time of year where everything seems to speed by. The children have been on their Summer holidays and I don't know about you, but I find it very difficult getting into a routine with work - especially now they are older!! I did not expect that at all. It seems I have to drop things at the last minute based on their social lives! To tell you a little about what I've been up to: A lovely holiday, which was very much needed - Mykonos - which was lovely! A gorgeous island with not a lot to do apart from swim, eat & drink! If you are up for late night partying then it is definitely worth a visit as the nightlife is superb and very cool! Since landing back on terra firma, things have become a little hectic....orders have been flying in (which I am not complaining about) and I have also received some fabulous reviews. I have to day, my tummy does a little flip when I recieve a review as it makes is so worthwhile and to think that a customer has taken the time and trouble to write something fills me with joy! This has to be the most wonderful review to date:    These bangles were one of the first products I produced when I started out. I have tweeked them a little over time but they remain a firm favourite with my customers and I think it is because not two sets are ever the same!  Anyway, enough of my ramblings - I would love to hear about the reviews you have had - good or bad and your response to them!  Have a great day all!  Jo x

It's All About Bangles! - MaisyPlum

It's All About Bangles!

So having come back from my recent trip abroad and having recovered (almost) from the holiday blues I have been keen to make a variety of bangles - the reason being, they jazz up any outfit, are easy to pack and look fabulous worn as singles or stacked up your arms!!!  So here are a few enamel sets that I have made using copper wire or tubing.  I have to be in the mood to make these as I generally end up with a headache due to the hammering involved to get these just right!  I made two different sets last week, the first set being 'Earth Tones'  These have  a really rustic feel about them as the enamel burnt through certain areas and created this charming 'aged' look. These colours are gorgeous, however, they are completely different when fired to how they appear in the jar! Very much a unique set as they seem to vary all the time! They are riveted together to ensure they never come apart! The second set I made I sold within 5 minutes of listing them so I had to make another set the same! These are in 'Cranberry' - I called them by this name as that was immediately what they reminded me of! Subtle hues of pale pinks and mauves. A gorgeous set that makes marvellous arm candy!  I then decided to make a bangle that could be adjustable and fit any sized wrist as that is a real problem for a lot of women - getting the sizing right. So I took some wire and played about with it for a few hours until I managed to come up with this bangle full of charms! I made two - one in green and one in pink. I will make one in blues soon but I want to see if they are a popular choice before I go mad making loads!  These are made using sterling silver wire onto which I attached individual charms that I cut and enameled in different tones of green and pink. Mixed in there somewhere are some sterling silver tags that can also be stamped with initials. These also look great stacked and if they prove popular more will be on their way!  And finally, here is my latest - having never worked with brass before I came up with this idea and I absolutely love it! These aren't adjustable but they are made in 3 different sizes for small, medium and large sized wrists! They are adorned with a selection of sterling silver & enamel charms, initial charms (handmade), tassels and beads of co-ordinating colours. These coral/ orange hues are stunning and I will definitely be making a lot more of these sets! So folks! That is how I have been keeping busy and I hope you like my new makes. If you have any suggestions or comments please feel free to add them. In the meantime, if you would like to sign up to my newsletter over at www.maisyplum.co.uk you will get a 10% discount off your first order!!  Have a fabulous week ! Take Care Jo

Holiday Season-What to Pack - MaisyPlum

Holiday Season-What to Pack

So summer is now officially here and holidays are now being booked and planned with increasing excitement. No doubt most of you are looking for a sun, sea, sand, sangaria and ermmm......oh yes fun!! The question is...what to pack for possibly two weeks in as small a case as you can find! Well hopefully here are some helpful tips to follow:- Firstly, do you really need half of your bathroom? Probably not! 1. Toiletries Decant all your shampoos, conditioners, body wash, face wash etc into 100ml plastic containers - these can be bought in Boots very cheaply - and only take what you REALLY need. The other option is to buy when you get to the other end! 2. Clothes Do you really need to pack two outfits for every day you are there? - probably not!  Try on your clothes before the holiday and work out some mix and match with some of the items to keep the amount you take to a minimum. You can wear the same outfit twice - who is going to know anyway!!?? Roll your clothes and place in suitcase rather than fold - it really does save a ton of space!  3. Jewellery Take simple jewellery that works with most outfits and I tend to only take a few necklaces/ earrings for the evenings. I don't bother in the day as it is generally too hot! Bangles always work a dream as you can mix and match them depending on your mood! 4. Toiletries Wrap toiletries in plastic carrier bags to prevent staining from any spillage and if you do need to pack a beach towel, wrap the bag of goodies in that too for extra cushioning. 5. Makeup Keep makeup to a minimum as this can add up in the weight department. Make up should be cushioned with cotton pads - this helps powders cracking!  6. Electricals Electricals ie hairdryers, straightners - ditch them both if you can! They weigh a ton! If you must take a hairdryer then pack a travel one as these save a lot of space. Hair straightners are not really necessary and it is quite cool to have the 'beach babe' look!  7. Reading Pack a kindle if you have one as you can download as many books as you like and it won't affect the weight! If you don't have a kindle take one book and agree with your mates that you will swap your books when they've been read!  8.. Be Safe If you are worried about your cash going missing whilst you are frolicking in the sea, pack your notes in old lipstick lids or use old makeup containers - anyone looking for a quick steal won't be searching there!  So I hope that this gives some packing tips for you all and in the meantime Happy Holidays & have fun fun fun!  If you have any other holiday packing tips that I haven't mentioned, then please comment with them below!

The Wonder of Spring (part 1) - MaisyPlum

The Wonder of Spring (part 1)

Well the sun has finally shone in good old Blighty and what a welcome change it is too - suddenly everything has come into bloom and it is spectacular! I love this country when Spring has sprung and Summer is definitely in hot pursuit!  With the warmer weather,  all I can hear is birdsong - it's suddenly everywhere!! As I write this I can hear the blue tits and chaffinches (or at least that what I think they are!!) singing away to each other in a high pitched chorus - I wonder what they are saying?  My lavender plants look amazing, which is also a surprise as I did nothing to help them last year. What is so wonderful are all the bees....I love bees and try to encourage these honey monsters as much as I can!  Flowers are blooming marvellous too.....!! Well that is it from me this week - I now have some inspiration for my work so hopefully I can show you some of it next week!
